Lighting Up the Sky

On Friday, Juneteenth, June 19, 2020, at 8:46pm we inaugurated “Lighting Up The Sky”

produced by the Crenshaw Dairy Mart with Tre Borden /Co in Inglewood, CA.

Crenshaw Dairy Mart is a 55-year-old historic property in the heart of Inglewood, home to generations of Black residents where the fight against police brutality and organizing for Black lives are well established. It is now an art collective co-founded by Patrisse Cullors, noé olivas, and Alexandre Dorriz that serves as a community hub for artists, activists and residents where Black joy and healing take place alongside a fight for justice and equity. The site lies in the flight path of most of the landing planes at LAX, and so on Juneteenth 2020 we unveiled a preview of the project in progress which will provide a permanent beacon for the BLM movement visible day and night. Special thanks to our beautiful team hard at work day to night making this a reality noé olivas, our co-founder, had envisioned the first days we entered the Mart.
